Ever since Microsoft announced Rise of the Tomb Raider, we’ve been hearing a trickle of info regarding the upcoming title. Today, we’re finally getting some concrete details thanks to Game Informer’s latest video interview.
Rise of the Tomb Raider’s game director Brian Horton revealed a ton of new information regarding the game, which includes dynamic time and day, an adaptive weather system, and the inclusion of different animals that will show up at different times.
Snow will play a large role in Rise of the Tomb Raider as Lara will be able to dig snow trenches to help shelter herself, and the snow technology in the game will allow unique footprints to be left behind by animals, which will slowly fill over time. Snow won’t always be helpful to Lara as she can suddenly find herself in the middle of an avalanche or snow storm.
Tomb Raider’s upgrade system will once again be making a return, although Lara will now be able to upgrade a number of bows rather than upgrade a single bow. Traversing the environment will also be making a return, and will be a large part of Rise of the Tomb Raider’s experience, although Horton promises the experience will be improved this time around as Lara can climb across mountains and additional terrain.
